WHAT'S AT STAKE

Protect the First Amendment

In simple terms, the First Amendment guarantees freedom of expression, prohibiting Congress from restricting the press or the rights of individuals to speak freely. However, as students involved in the press now face endless censorship, New Voices is important for protecting student press freedom with state laws. We value this campaign for the sake of students who are silenced due to school officials who can censor student publications under Supreme Court decisions that treat high school newspapers as part of the school function. New Voices will bring bills designed to protect the student press from censorship by school officials to value the voices of students.”
